Paintings from the Snapshot series are fleeting encapsulations of people gathered together for various reasons. Free hand sketches and abstractions are worked into the layout of a piece, transpiring over time into compositions suggesting a single moment in time, captured like a snapshot. There’s an undercurrent of sub story elements, with interpersonal exchanges and situations hinting at the psychology of human interaction in the pieces. The painting Suitable Arrangements: time and place portrays women destined to meet and perhaps conspire while creating bouquets together. Neighbors pass one another during a weekend in Saturday Morning: in the neighborhood. Twenty-somethings engage in conversation in The Geek Squad: catching up, and a cross section of beach lovers seek relief from the heat of summer in At The Shore: pilgrimage and right of passage.
